CHEW GUIDE

GIVING YOUR DOGS NATURAL CHEWS

If it’s the first time your dog is introduced to fresh dehydrated bone chews or if it’s been a while since they had some, they may experience the following:

  • Runny or soft watery stools which may be mistaken as diarrhea.
This is due to richness of the chew that is naturally higher in fat. It may require a short adjustment period if this is your dog’s first natural chew bone. If there is such condition, temporarily discontinue until stool becomes normal.
  • Firm, solid stool that crumbles easily.
This shows it’s digested Remember to keep your dog well hydrated after having these natural chews.

HOW To give your dog chews safely

  1. Step 1: It may cause some mess, you can cover up with a mat or cloth to prevent them from dirtying the carpet or cushion.
  2. Step 2: Slowly introduce this bone to them by letting them chew for 1/4 of the bone and take it away for the first few times, slowly increase over time.
  3. Step 3: For blade bone, femur bone, and hip bone, allow your dog to slowly gnaw the edges / knob and consume the soft tissue & cartilage. Throw away the bone when it’s at a size that can be swallowed whole.
  4. Step 4: Always dispose the splinters or loose pieces (if any).
  5. Step 5: Make sure your dog is well hydrated by giving them lots of water.

SAFETY & HANDLING

  • Recreational bones are solely for chewing purpose only, they are not meant to be swallowed whole.
  • Always supervise your dog while chewing to avoid unwanted accidents that may be fatal.
  • Always give in moderation; 5-7 days once is ideal.
  • These chews may fill up your dog. Cut down her meal accordingly for the rest of the day.

NOT SUITABLE FOR

  • Dogs with food aggression / eats too quickly
You may need to remove the bone when it’s chewed down to a size that may cause danger. If your dog does not allow to touch her food, this may result her to swallow the bone in whole.
  • Dogs with digesting issue or kidney & pancreatitis condition
Though we say it’s digestible, not all dogs have the best digestive system. It’s important that you are aware of how well your dog digest her food on a daily basis. It’s not recommended to give bones if your dog has digestive issues from the start. You may opt for cartilage chews such as pig ears or beef tendon instead.

Our natural bones have fats & cartilage intact, which may be rich in fat, calcium and phosphorus which may burden a dog with kidney or pancreatic condition.
